Athletic Trainer - Offering $5,000 sign on bonus Pay: Competitive Location: Bowling Green/Kentucky Employment type: Full-Time Job Description Req#: 15559 Position Summary Carry out education of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients as determined by a Physician or Physical Therapist. Provide patient education with post-op & rehab patients and develop rehabilitation programs for athletic injury prevention in outpatient and athletic event environments. Minimum Qualifications Work Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training program required. Master’s degree preferred. Certifications/Licensure: Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and licensed (active or temporary) Athletic Trainer by the Commonwealth of Kentucky required. Job Specific Performance Standards The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. Conduct initial assessment of athlete's injury or illness to provide emergency or continued care and determine referral to physicians for diagnosis and treatment. Collaborate with physicians and physical therapists to develop and implement rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries. Plan and implement injury and illness prevention programs for local high schools and Western Kentucky University. Serve as a primary contact for athletic directors at affiliated educational establishments. Provide sideline, practice, and training room coverage for athletic departments. Schedule and attend pre-participation sports physicals. Assist with data collection, patient history entry, and pre-authorizations of STAT MRIs. Provide patient education on home exercise protocols as per physician’s request. Support Med Center Orthopaedics by assisting physicians during clinic hours with procedures.
